RECIPE: Nana Rose’s 60th Birthday Chocolate Cake (Chapter 11)

As promised, I will be posting recipes from food mentioned in Rosabelle by Linda Harrington here.

This week, to conincide with the release of Rosablle - in print and ebook - here is the recipe for Nana Rose’s 60th Birthday Chocolate Cake (as baked by Anna in Chapter Eleven):

Ingredients:

1 3/4 cups flour

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

3 tablespoons cocoa

125gs melted butter

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 eggs

Method:

  • Line cake tin with baking paper

  • Sift dry ingredients together in a large bowl.

  • Add the wet ingredients.

  • Beat well (with an electric mixer)

  • Bake at 170 degrees celsius for 45mins.

This is an excellent recipe that always turns out!

Decorate with icing to turn this cake into something special for a birthday
